First Submission Villa Muller

The first task we were presented with, was the Villa Muller, at first it did not seem much of a task, nor did I see through the difficulty behind the building at first glance. With further inspection and research of the building, I found out that Adolf Loos created a house with a "Raumplan" which means that the building does not have a static plan, meaning that there is no first floor, second floor, just rooms, the plan of the rooms, instead the whole building, is only linked by the staircase. The Villa Muller was a perfect example of a functionalist house, with its stark exterior and its warm and intimate interior that contradicted the exterior facades, it was Adolf Loos masterpiece. Every single room held a different height.

For my Parti drawings, i focused on the enclosure, program, and the circulation. The enclosure of the building was important because of the fact that the building gave away no information from an external view, it was all sealed away inside. The function of the building played a major role in understanding the building, and that related closely to the circulation, how the whole building was linked.

Through working on this model, I have understood the intricacies of the Villa Muller

POWER ELEVATOR AND TABLE

The elevators was created to meld itself into the whole form of the building.

The table was a symbol of a combination of Ratan Tata's building and Zhang Yin's building, at the same time symbolic in its shape, the dark nature of the table was created due to the fact that they were serious people that were all about buisness, the light and clear glass floor was there to level the two people, to exemplify the fact that no matter how they obtained their power, when it comes to the fear of death, it becomes the balancer of all humans, the descent to mortality and dreadful realisation brings a dreaded truth to the two clients and allows the thought that money is not everything, creeps into their minds.

POWER ELEVATORS

The elevator movements are created so that it gives only a quick glimpse of the architecture, knowing most chinese and indian people, they are all about efficiency and speed, that is why, as to not hinder their prospects, they are given quick elevators that show quick and slick movements.
